Colton Byrd rushed for 240 yards and three touchdowns and sophomore quarterback Nic Horner threw for 239 yards and three scores as the Columbia Eagles dominated the Salem Wildcats at home Friday night, 54-15.

Horner was 12-for-14 passing on the night with TDs of 38 and 33 yards to senior wideout Jordan Holmes and the other being a 76-yard connection with his twin brother, Sam Horner, early in the third quarter.

Columbia led 30-7 at halftime. Byrd’s second TD of the night, from 28 yards out, gave the Eagles a convincing 27-7 lead at 5:27 of the second quarter.

Following a Salem touchdown early in the first quarter, the Eagles rattled off 54 straight points before the Wildcats could muster a late TD. Dylan Hildebrand capped off Columbia’s scoring with a touchdown on the recovery of a blocked punt.

Holmes finished with 88 yards receiving on the night for the Eagles, who improved to 2-1 on the season.
