Burglary reported in Columbia
Charges are pending following a burglary investigation that began Monday afternoon in Columbia.
Shortly before 5 p.m., Columbia police responded to the 300 block of Carl Street to investigate an alleged residential burglary. The homeowner believed the crime occurred between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.
At the request of the Columbia Police Department, the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
No forced entry to the home was discovered, police said.
On Friday, Columbia police said multiple calls from the public helped them identify a juvenile suspect and criminal charges are pending.
“The Columbia Police Department would like to thank those individuals who provided information which aided our investigation,” Columbia Police Chief Jerry Paul said.
