The pilot of a crop dusting helicopter was able to avoid injury after striking a power line and crashing into a field near Foster Pond west of Waterloo early Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. in the area of DB Road.

Monroe County Electric Cooperative was contacted to restore power to those property owners affected by the crash.

Police identified the pilot of the helicopter as 39-year-old Samuel Schnick. He was operating the copter for a company out of Iowa that was contracted by Gateway FS to spray chemicals on a wheat field.

The field in which the helicopter crashed is owned by Scott Limestall.
