The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Waterloo High School cross country runner Jake Schwartz.

The senior recently finished first in the Mississippi Valley Conference Cross Country Championship, and followed that up with a second place finish — by one second — in the IHSA Regional Cross Country Meet at Triad.
