Rain-covered roads result in multiple crashes
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department responded with Monroe County EMS about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday to a two-vehicle crash at Route 3 and just north of Kaskaskia Road. Both vehicles, a silver Dodge pickup truck and a white passenger car, sustained moderate damage but none of those involved required medical transport.
About 10 minutes later, a vehicle drove into a ravine on Route 156 near Old Baum Church Road and Mystic Lane. The vehicle, a white car, had significant wheel damage. An injury was initially reported, but no medical transport was required.
Fewer than five minutes after that, a third crash was called in. At Gall Road and HH Road, a vehicle struck a guardrail. There were no injuries.
Shortly before 4 p.m., another injury crash was reported in the area of Waterloo Road and Floraville Road in rural St. Clair County. Hecker Fire Department personnel responded. The initial report indicated that a Corvette was on its side.
Columbia police responded to a minor two-vehicle crash on Temple Street just before 5 p.m. No injuries were reported.
The crashes occurred following a brief rain shower that created slippery conditions on area streets and highways.
