WPD receives complaint of possible food tampering

Waterloo police are notifying the public following a complaint this week of possible food tampering.

On Wednesday night, a local resident reported to police that a pill was found in their child’s baby food. The pill was said to have been found in a Gerber Oatmeal and Banana Cereal eight-ounce container and was reported to have been purchased recently at the Waterloo Walmart.

“Erring on the side of caution and safety, the Waterloo Police Department wants to make the consuming public aware of the situation,” a WPD press release issued Thursday states.

Waterloo police are currently working with the Food and Drug Administration as well as both Walmart and Gerber on this incident.

Anyone with questions or concerns regarding this incident may call Waterloo police at 939-3377 or your local law enforcement agency.
