Area agencies including the Columbia Fire Department, Monroe County EMA, Columbia EMS, Monroe County EMS and Dupo EMS joined Cahokia, Dupo, Prairie du Pont and Camp Jackson fire departments in responding to Cahokia Monday afternoon for a fire at Cahokia Nursing and Rehab on Annable Court.

Units from CFD were initially directed to stage at the Cahokia Walgreens and be prepared to respond if any fire calls come in for Dupo or Prairie du Pont fire departments. EMA Director Ryan Weber responded with the county’s mass casualty trailer to provide assistance and triage at the home as all the residents are evacuated.

Several residents were immediately taken to hospitals for treatment of smoke inhalation.
