The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department called in an Illinois State Police crime scene unit to assist in investigating a burglary reported Tuesday afternoon in the area of 2700 G Road north of Renault.

A back door was kicked in to gain entrance to the residence, police said. A wedding ring and other jewelry items, along with an HP laptop computer, were among the items missing.

The case remains under investigation.
