Edwin A. Matzenbacher, 92, of Waterloo, died March 24, 2016, in St. Louis.
He was born March 14, 1924, in Waterloo, son of the late Adam and Ida Matzenbacher (nee Goeddel).
He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo.
He is survived by his wife Shannon Matzenbacher (nee Martin); children Arnold (Judy) Matzenbacher, Gail (Albert) Polk, and Susan (Kurt) Mathews; grandchildren Jeri Bergmann, Angela (Doug) Briggs, Erin Matzenbacher, Teresa (Bruce) Terveer, Matt (Mindy) Blake, Christopher Polk (friend Tami Setzer), Melissa (Kyle) Sensel, Sarah (Brian) Wild, and Karla (Mike) Buettner; great-grandchildren Brent and Alex Bergmann, Jessica Hunter, Jack, Josie and Julia Briggs, Scarlet Matzenbacher, Sarah and Emily Allen, Allie and Thomas Terveer, Kristen, Cameron, and Chase Polk, Cole and Dane Sensel, Griffin Wild and baby Buettner; sister-in-law Mary (Henry) Ahne; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Jill O. Matzenbacher; brothers William (Viola) Matzenbacher, Oscar (Rose) Matzenbacher, Elmer (Luella) Matzenbacher and Walter (Ruth) Matzenbacher; sister Frieda (William) Grohmann; and sister-in-law Juanita Bagsby.
Visitation was March 25, at Quernheim Funeral Home, and March 26, at Paul United Church of Christ, Waterloo.
Funeral services were March 26, at the church, Pastor Merlyn Lawrence officiating.
Interment followed at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo.
As an expression of sympathy, the family prefers memorial contributions to St. Paul United Church of Christ, Waterloo.
