Grace C. Dunn

Grace C. Dunn (nee Roberts) 98, of Columbia, died Feb. 12, 2016, at St. Anthony’s Medical Center, St. Louis.

She was born Sept. 4, 1917, in Grand Chain, daughter of David and Ida Roberts (nee Wiesenborn).

She was married to  Lewis R. Dunn; he preceded her in death.

Grace worked as a designer and hand cutter for Martha Manning Garment Factory, Collinsville.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Belleville, the Women’s Society at the Methodist Church in Cahokia, and the Morning Glory Circle, having served as a past president.

She was a quilter at church for 11 years. She taught Sunday school and bible school and was a gifted seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sisters Ruby Klardie and Mary Eastwood.

Survivors include her Daughters Wanda (Richard) Johnson of Oro Valley, Ariz., Jane (Jack) Buehler of Barnhart, Mo., Phyllis Thomas of Columbia, and Pat (Thomas) Packard of Edwardsville; brother Kenneth (Alice) Roberts of Joliet; sister Margaret (James) Snyder of Ocala, Fla.; grandchildren Lisa (David) Coombs, Joe (Marci) Thomas, and Nicholas Thomas; great-grandchildren Daniel Coombs, Matthew Coombs, Adam Coombs, Christopher Thomas and Jude Thomas; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Special thanks to the staff at Oak Hill nursing home in Waterloo.

Visitation is Feb. 17, from 1:30 to 5 p.m., at Bethany United Methodist Church, Columbia; and Feb. 18, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville.

Funeral services will be held Feb. 18, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with Doug Hargrave and Dale Ruckman officiating.

Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Belleville.
