Waterloo High School recently received a generous donation: a new bus.

“The bus will be used to transport both girls and boys to extracurricular events and may also be used occasionally for field trips,” WHS principal Lori Costello explained.

The bus came from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous. So, it didn’t cost the district any money.

The bus came into the high school’s possession without any paint. It now has decals letting motorists know that it belongs to Waterloo.

“The external buffing, cleaning and preparation for the decals was donated by Ken Valentine,” Costello said. “The decals were a donation from the athletic boosters and were done by DE Signs.”

Prior to the donated coach, the school district utilized its contract with Illinois Central for extracurricular activities. The school will have to employ a driver whenever the bus is used.

“When the donation was presented to us, we weighed the pros and cons and studied the savings to the district in transportation cost,” Costello said.
