WPD investigating vehicle break-ins, burglary

Waterloo police are investigating multiple vehicle break-ins and a residential burglary that occurred Thursday.

Waterloo Police Chief Jim Trantham reminded residents to keep all doors to their vehicles and homes locked and to report suspicious activity to police.

A residence in the 400 block of Monroe Street was unlawfully entered sometime between 4:30 and 8 a.m. Thursday through an unlocked door and a purse was taken from the kitchen area, Trantham said. An Illinois State Police crime scene unit assisted in processing the home for evidence.

Sometime Wednesday night into Thursday morning, an unlocked truck in the 100 block of First Street was entered with a wallet and gold coins stolen, police said.

A resident in the 500 block of Mobile Street advised that between 9 and 9:30 a.m. Thursday, someone entered a vehicle on her carport and removed her purse containing a credit card.

Anyone with information on any of these cases is asked to contact the WPD at 939-3377.
