The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Ben Thoma of the Valmeyer Lakers. He was named MVP for the Mon-Clair League All-Stars following Saturday’s 7-5 win over the Clinton County All-Stars at GCS Ballpark in Sauget.

Thoma went 2-for-2 with two singles and two RBIs — including the game-winning RBI in the top of the seventh inning.

He is pictured with Mon-Clair League President Don Barton.
