Police and ambulance personnel responded to an apparent self-inflicted shotgun shooting death on Oak Lane off Route 3 south of Waterloo late Tuesday afternoon.

The male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by a representative of the Monroe County coroner’s office.

An Illinois State Police crime scene unit was dispatched to the location as a standard procedure to help investigators rule out foul play.
