There were some amazing team and individual efforts this spring on local softball diamonds, as evidenced by this year’s Republic-Times All-Local Softball Team.

The R-T coverage area showcased probably the top pitcher as well as nearly half of the top hitters for average in the entire St. Louis region.

Here’s this year’s star-studded list:

PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Kasey Bradley, Waterloo: The Waterloo senior pitcher edged out some mighty local offensive talent in taking top honors on this newspaper’s All-Local Team. The ace lefty led the Bulldogs to conference and regional titles and threw three-no-hitters on the season. When it was all said and done, Bradley posted a 25-2 record with 196 strikeouts and a 1.60 ERA for the Bulldogs.

FIRST TEAM
Taryn Pena, Columbia: Pena earned first team All-State honors for her amazing offensive numbers and strong defense behind the plate for the Eagles. Pena hit .495 with 14 doubles and 43 RBIs this spring.
Emelia Modglin, Waterloo: Modglin seemed to come through in the clutch all season long for the record-setting 2015 Bulldogs. The senior hit .526 with five home runs and 45 RBIs.
Megan Brown, Dupo: The super sophomore led the entire St. Louis area in hitting with a .596 average. She also hit six home runs and 18 doubles and had 36 RBIs for the Tigers, who won another regional title.
Caitlyn Touchette, Columbia: Playing solid at third base for the Eagles, Touchette hit .495 with seven home runs and 58 RBIs during her memorable senior campaign.
Kylie Albrecht, Waterloo: Another senior, Albrecht served as the catalyst for Waterloo’s potent offense while playing stellar defense at second base. Albrecht hit .472 with four home runs and 50 runs scored this season.
Miranda Kaufmann, Valmeyer: Her senior season for the Pirates was one to remember. Kaufmann proved to be a tough out all season, hitting .613 with three home runs and 27 RBIs.
Kaylee Bastien, Columbia: The senior shortstop was a sparkplug for the Eagles this spring, hitting .472 with 48 runs scored.
Paige Wriston, Gibault: The senior finished her softball days for the Hawks with a strong campaign, hitting .413 with two home runs and 26 RBIs to lead her team.
Rachel Garcia, Columbia: Rounding out the First Team is Garcia, who provided balance to the Eagles offense by hitting .474 with four home runs and 39 RBIs.

SECOND TEAM
Rachael Donald, Dupo: Donald provided solid defense at catcher for the Tigers and contributed in a big way on offense with a .464 average and 28 RBIs for the Tigers.
Jaynie Vanatta, Valmeyer: The freshman outfielder gives the Pirates a bright future. The left-handed-swinging Vanatta hit .474 this spring with 28 runs scored.
Courtney Weilbacher, Columbia: Weilbacher made amazing plays in centerfield all season, including a leaping catch to rob a home run against Waterloo in the regional final. Oh, and she can hit. Weilbacher hit .447 with 31 RBIs.
Kaitlyn Storm, Waterloo: Speaking of the regional final, no one will forget Storm’s heroic walk-off blast that gave the Bulldogs the title. Storm hit .438 with 10 doubles this season.
Kalli Farmer, Columbia: The infielder hit .429 with 32 runs scored this season for the Eagles.
Erica Schaab, Waterloo: The sophomore outfielder hit .323 with six home runs and 40 RBIs for the Bulldogs.
Alyssa Strubberg, Dupo: Strubberg was a speedster on the basepaths for the Tigers, swiping 20 bases while hitting .433 with 26 runs scored.
Taylor Augustine, Waterloo: The shortstop contributed to her team’s winning ways with great defense and a .354 average with 11 stolen bases and 34 runs scored.
Kelly Metter, Columbia: Metter provided an offensive punch this spring with five home runs to go along with a .395 average and 31 RBIs.
Jessica Stansch, Dupo: Stansch was tough on the mound this season, posting an 18-5 record and 1.73 ERA for the Tigers.

HONORABLE MENTION
