Hot Rod Tour Passing Through June 9

The 2015 Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour will make its way through Monroe and Randolph counties on Tuesday, June 9.

The 21st annual Power Tour will start in Madison, Wisc., on Saturday and end up in Baton Rouge, La., on June 12.

This year, more than 5,000 participants are expected with all makes and models of hot rods, street rods, custom trucks, muscle cars and performance machines of every vintage and nameplate.

The tour includes a stop at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison. Participants will depart from Gateway on next Tuesday with the next scheduled stop being in Memphis, Tenn.

The schedule calls for the tour to travel down Route 3 through Columbia, Waterloo and Red Bud that morning.

“The Power Tour plans to roll down I-255 and Route 3 on it’s way to Memphis on June 9 in the a.m., potentially bringing 3,000 to 5,000 hot rods and their occupants to all the towns along the route,” local organizer Kevin Oeste of Red Bud said. “In short, it’s a giant parade of hot rods and vacationers coming to our front door, and they might need fuel, food, drinks, parts, souvenirs, help… you get the idea.”

Quality Collision in Columbia will be hosting a “Hot Rod Power Tour Party” on Tuesday starting at 8 a.m.  Free breakfast will be served, including biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, donuts and drinks.

There will be several classic cars and hot rods on display at Quality Collision, and attendance prizes awarded. Anyone wanting to attend to watch the hundreds of classic cars pass through town can attend.
