This week’s Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Columbia softball player Caitlyn Touchette.

The senior infielder is hitting over .500 for the Eagles this spring with a team-leading six home runs and 54 RBIs to go along with 32 runs scored.

The 25-3 Eagles began Class 3A regional play Wednesday with a 6-3 win over Freeburg at Waterloo High School, setting up a regional final showdown with top-seeded Waterloo on Saturday.
