The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Valmeyer High School baseball player Easton Wallace.

The sophomore infielder/pitcher leads the Pirates in hitting with a .441 average and in RBIs with 37. He also has a 6-0 record and 2.10 ERA on the mound.

In the Class 1A Marissa Regional on Thursday, Wallace pitched a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts on the mound and added two hits and four RBIs at the plate in a 10-0 win over Marissa.

The Pirates will play the winner of New Athens-Okawville in the regional final on Saturday.
