Pearl K. Brinley

Pearl K. Brinley (nee Otten), 93, of Waterloo, died May 3, 2015, in Waterloo.

She was born March 1, 1922, in Sugar Loaf Township, daughter of the late George & Emma (nee Peterson) Otten.

Pearl was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo and the Afternoon Women’s Guild. She was a 50-year member of Eastern Star — Queen City 697, where she was named a Worthy Matron three times. She was also a member of Al Sihah Temple 29, Daughter of the Nile, Women of the Moose 1563, Moose Academy of Friendship, Ladies Auxiliary VFW 6504, Lift Program, Classic 55 Club, Senior Activity Club, Senior Circle and International Society of Poetry.

She is survived by her daughters Nancy Ferguson, Charlene (Tony) Jacobs, and Cheryl (James) Hicks; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; step-great-great-grandchildren;  godchildren Sandra Henling, Dorena Colombo and Geraldine Schaefer; nieces; nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles P. Brinley, son Garry Brinley, daughter Doris Millhouse, two grandsons, two great-grandchildren, sisters Otilda Kossina, Adelia Mees, Elenora Newton, Alma Otten and Mabel Otten, and brothers Harold, Harvey and Edgar Otten.

Visitation was May 4 at Quernheim Funeral Home, and May 5 at St. Paul United Church of Christ.

Funeral services were May 5 at the church, Pastor Thelma Burgonio-Watson officiating.

Interment followed at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.

She lives in Columbia with her husband and their twin toddler sons.
