James Stanley Schwartz

James Stanley Schwartz, 81, of Millstadt, died April 10, 2015, in Belleville.

He was born Jan. 24, 1934, in Dupo, son of the late Oliver L. and Lilly E. Schwartz (nee Kurtz).

He was married to Doris Marie Schwartz (nee Tunley).

Mr. Schwartz was a member of Monroe County Volunteer Ambulance Service and Zahnow PTA. He was president of Local #42 Rubber Works, treasurer of Grain Miller Union, and retired from Golden Dipt in Millstadt.

He is survived by his wife; children Chris (Angela) Schwartz, and Brian Schwartz; grandchildren Ryan Schwartz and Alec Schwartz; sisters and brothers Helen Preshaw, Janice (Charles) Clark, Melvin (Ethel) Schwartz, Edith Lerch, Karen Schwartz and Cynthia Schwartz; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Glenn (Mary Lou) Schwartz; brothers-in-law James Preshaw, Arlyn Lerch and Del Hester; father-in-law Lester Tunley; and mother-in-law Jan Thorp.

A memorial visitation will be held from 10:30 t0 11:30 a.m., April 25, at Quernheim Funeral Home.

A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Darrell Weber officiating.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Paul United Church of Christ.

She lives in Columbia with her husband and their twin toddler sons.
