Waterloo crosswalk project begins on Main Street
Waterloo city officials said work will begin this week on stamped brick-like crosswalks at the intersections of Main and Third streets and Main and Mill Streets outside the courthouse.
Beginning Wednesday morning, April 22, the intersection of Third and Main will be closed for up to 14 days to allow enough time for concrete to cure.
The second closure, at the intersection of Main and Mill, will begin Monday, May 11, and will last up to 14 days.

The first phase of this project involved sidewalk ramp updates on Main Street at West Third and West Mill streets for ADA compliance.
At those same intersections, the city will install brick crosswalks similar to ones seen outside City Hall on Main Street in Columbia.
In total, the sidewalk and crosswalk improvement project will cost $200,000, which the city is paying out of its general fund.
It is hoped that the project will be completed by May 1.
In addition, the intersection of South Main and Third Street — the courthouse bandstand corner — will soon be converted into a four-way stop.
This summer, there will be re-sealing and re-striping of Main and Mill streets, and possibly Third Street, the city said in January.
