Waterloo man charged in Wild Country incident
Collinsville police said Thursday they have arrested a 23-year-old Waterloo man with multiple felonies following a March 29 incident outside of the Wild Country night club.
Police responded to Wild Country in reference to a pedestrian that had been struck on the parking lot with the vehicle subsequently fleeing the scene. Upon arrival, officers learned the individual struck by the vehicle was a member of Wild Country security and it was believed the victim suffered a broken leg as a result of the collision.
After following up on numerous leads, investigators were able to identify the driver of the vehicle at fault as Joshua S. Jennings, 23, of Waterloo.
Last Tuesday, the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Jennings with felony aggravated battery and felony failure to report an accident involving injury.
Bond was set at $100,000 by a judge and Jennings remains in custody at the Madison County Jail in Edwardsville.
Witness statements and follow-up interviews revealed the incident began with a verbal altercation between multiple individuals on the parking lot, which caught the attention of security personnel and drew their response.
Jennings, who was involved in the verbal altercation, intentionally struck multiple individuals with his vehicle before eventually leaving the parking lot, police said.
