Snowy Saturday road conditions lead to mishaps

Emergency personnel responded shortly after 4:30 p.m. Saturday to a single vehicle rollover in the snow on Route 156 east of Waterloo near Lake of the Woods. The Hecker Fire Department was called for extrication but no injuries were reported.

The fire department was quickly canceled after police were able to safely remove the female occupant from the vehicle.

There were other reports of vehicles off the roadway throughout Monroe County due to snow, including Kaskaskia Road and Maeystown Road.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department advised on Saturday night that Woodland Ridge leading to new Valmeyer from Bluff Road was closed due to snowy conditions and reports of several vehicles stuck.
