Vehicle accident on I-255 in Columbia

The Columbia Police Department, Columbia Fire Department and Columbia EMS responded to a vehicle crash on I-255 just east of the J.B. Bridge at about 2:50 p.m. Friday.

An 18-year-old female amazingly avoided serious injury after the car she was driving westbound on I-255 left the roadway to avoid another vehicle and crossed the grass median over to the eastbound lanes and into trees.

The right lane of I-255 eastbound near the Fish Lake overpass was closed as crews handled the crash, with traffic backed up across the bridge into Missouri.
