Icy road conditions in Monroe County

Police and fire personnel respond to a vehicle off the roadway on Cedar Ridge Lane at Andy Road.

Slick road conditions made it difficult for motorists during the Monday morning commute.

The Waterloo Fire Department responded at about 7:40 a.m. Monday to assist the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department with a report of a vehicle off the roadway due to ice and down in a ravine off Cedar Ridge Lane at Andy Road. The vehicle was a black SUV with three occupants, one of which complained of minor injuries on scene.

In addition, police responded to multiple reports of vehicles off the roadway due to icy conditions in the 3200 area of State Route 156 between Waterloo and Valmeyer. One such incident shortly after 8 a.m. required EMS to respond. IDOT was also contacted.

Fourth Street near Church Street and Library Street in Waterloo is also covered in ice, Waterloo police said at about 8:25 a.m.
