Alvin Edward Jacobs | Obituary
Alvin Edward Jacobs, 85, of Red Bud, died Dec. 12, 2014 in Red Bud.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1928 to the late Fred and Bertha Jacobs, nee Prescher, in Renault.
He married Darlene Ann Piel on Aug. 21, 1954 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Renault; she survives.
He was a lifelong farmer.
He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Renault, where he held many offices in the Men’s Club. He was also a member of Lutheran Laymen’s League, American Legion in Renault and the Randolph County Farm Bureau.
He had served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife; children Lynn (Christopher) Payne of Waterloo, Deborah (Harold) Siegfried of Red Bud, Evelyn (Dale) Belman of Belleville, Sandra (Howard) Mehner of Waterloo, Marsha (Michael) Voges of Columbia, and Dwight Jacobs of Red Bud; grandchildren Jacobs Payne, Sara Siegfried, Nickolas Mehner, Brittany Mehner and Nathan Voges; brother Victor Jacobs of Prairie du Rocher; sisters-in-law Marcella Piel of Granite City and Marjorie (Joseph) Collias of Crestwood, Mo.; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 16 at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud and 9 to 10 a.m. Dec. 17 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Renault.
A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Dec. 17 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Renault.
Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Christ Our Savior Lutheran High School or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
