Esther Mesnarich, 98, died Nov. 10, 2014 in Dunedin, Fla.
She was born on April 23, 1916, in Ames, to Gustav and Hulda Prange, nee Parrott.
She was baptized at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Renault on May 21, 1916, and confirmed on July 19, 1931.
She married Louis Mesnarich in Waterloo on July 27, 1935. They had three children, Donald Louis, Wayne Noel and Diane Esther.
They lived in St. Louis, where Louis was a block contractor until 1950 when they moved to Red Bud. There, they built the Circle Ice Cream Parlor. People of a certain age will remember her behind the counter scooping out Velvet Freeze Ice Cream imported from St. Louis. They moved in retirement to Monte Verde, Fla. in 1975 and later to Dunedin. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage.
Surviving are her children, Wayne (Joyce) Mesnarich of Red Bud, and Diane Elliott of Dunedin, Fla.; her grandchildren, Lori (Aaron) Rogers of Arlington, Texas, Michael Mesnarich, Donna Barber of Red Bud, Delonda (Karl) Kelly of Waterloo, Beverly (Bob) Mahde of Howell, NJ, Daniel (Sonja) Elliott, Dina (Mike) Kestner and Sam Elliott all of Dunedin, Fla. area; great-grandchildren: Heather Harvey of California, Krysta Schmidt, Drew and Kayla Kelley of Waterloo, Brittany Atkins of Florida, Alisa Fayne of Texas; and one sister-in-law: Jackie Prange. She will be greatly missed by all her family including many very dear nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away on Oct. 16, 1997; a son, Donald, who passed away on March 21, 1994; her parents; eight siblings, Adolph (Hulda) Prange, Clarence (Marge), Sophia (Albert) Brandenberg, Walter (Leona), Bertha (Harold) Schultz, Lydia (Raymond) Douglas and Oliver; and son-in-law Jay Elliott.
A memorial service took place in Red Bud.
