Van vs. motorcycle crash on Route 3

Traffic on Route 3 northbound was backed up south of Hope Christian Church after a motorcycle struck the back of a van around 8:45 p.m. Saturday.

Waterloo police, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and Monroe County EMS assisted Illinois State Police at the crash scene. The driver of the motorcycle was injured and transported to an area hospital. Monroe County EMS transported the injured motorcyclist to the ambulance garage parking lot, where he was airlifted by Survival Flight helicopter to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis with non-life-threatening injuries.
