WPD Senior Police Academy begins Sept. 24
The Waterloo Police Department will again host its Senior Police Academy on Wednesday afternoons beginning Sept. 24.
The academy will be a seven-week program ending with a presentation of certificates on Nov. 5.
Classes will take place from 1 to 3:15 p.m. in the second floor training room at Waterloo City Hall. The academy will be open to those 50 years of age and above.
Senior Police Academy is offered at no cost and is financed through Waterloo Police Community Services.
This year’s itinerary will include the following topics: CPR and first aid, frauds and scams, crime scene investigations, elder abuse awareness, U.S. Secret Service, Monroe County Health Department, Alzheimer’s and dementia, seniorsafety, and Monroe County EMS.
To register for this program, call the WPD office at 939-3377 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Refreshments will be provided along with a break for speaking and sharing experiences with instructors and classmates.
