A capacity crowd flocked to the Monroe County Fair on Wednesday night to watch this year’s Figure 8 race and small truck demolition derby. The action continued past midnight, with trophies handed out by Monroe County Fair Queen Jessica Altadonna to winners in the small and large car divisions in addition to the truck demo.

Rich Harsey, with his son Cameron riding as passenger, won the first place trophy in the Figure 8 small car category. Tony Brellinger took second and Nathan Frailey finished third.

The small car race was stopped briefly for emergency personnel to treat a passenger in car 216, Bryant Spindler, who injured a leg during a collision with another car.

In the Figure 8 large car race, Joe Goodell of House Springs, Mo., took top honors, outlasting the second place car driven by Mike Seymour of Waterloo with passenger Shawn Seymour. Chad Everett of Waterloo won third place.

The Seymour car amazingly took second despite flipping on its side, which required firemen to flip it back upright before the race could continue.

In the truck demo derby, Pat Seymour won the big trophy, with Vince Allscheid taking second and Shawn Seymour placing third.

The stands will once again be packed on Friday night as many of these same drivers join others in battling out during the auto demolition derby.
