Columbia police are investigating two vehicle break-ins that occurred early Saturday afternoon on the rear north parking lot of Christ Community Church near Oerter Field. Police were called to the scene shortly after 1:30 p.m. The side passenger glass windows were broken out of both cars to gain access to items inside. Illinois State Police crime scene services are assisting with the investigation.

The drivers of both vehicles walked to Oerter Field to attend a sporting event, and their cars had only been parked outside the church for about an hour.

Columbia police are asking anyone who may have been in the area around that time and noticed anything suspicious to call the department at 281-5151.
