Hoeffken appointed city clerk in Columbia
The Columbia City Council on Monday night unanimously approved the appointment of Wes Hoeffken as the new city clerk following the recent passing of former city clerk Ron Colyer.
Hoeffken previously served as Columbia city clerk from 1993 to 2009. Most recently, he was a member of the Columbia Planning Commission, a post he had to resign to accept the city clerk appointment.
Hoeffken will serve until the next city election, which will be in April 2015. At that point, he may choose to run for the office in the election if he desires.
In other city council news, there will be an official dedication of the new Sesquicentennial Pavilion at Metter Park this Sunday, during the intermission of the Music at Metter performance of the Waterloo German Band, expected to be at about 6:30 p.m.
The next city council meeting is 7 p.m. July 7 at Columbia City Hall.
