A few weeks ago, students at Pen2Paper Art Studio met with residents at Garden Place Senior Living in Columbia and had the opportunity to get to know them and take their photograph.

On March 13, students had the privilege of giving the portrait they drew to the senior who posed for them. There were 10 students and 10 seniors who participated in the program.

One senior was moved to tears as she saw her mother’s image in the portrait drawn of her.  Another woman thanked a student artist for making her look younger. Others commented on how impressed they were of the artists’ skills to portray them.

“The evening went quite well,” Pen2Paper owner Sue Hezel said. “I’m very proud of my students’ abilities and effort.”

In addition to the Pen2Paper class, three of teacher Jen Traube’s Columbia High School Art Club students participated in the senior drawing portion of the class and made framed portraits of their studies.
