Albino deer spotted in Burksville Station

Will and Susan Harbaugh observed this albino deer in the area near KK Road and Sportsman Road in Burksville Station around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Albinism is very rare in deer. Killing an albino deer in Illinois is a Class B misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $2,500 and 180 days in the county jail, plus confiscation of the animal.

According to Buckmasters.com, only 1 in 100,000 deer are born as albino whitetails.
