City seeks action on vacant Waterloo building
The City of Waterloo filed a legal complaint last month at the Monroe County Courthouse, requesting the demolition or repair of a vacant business structure at 305 North Library Street, which is located near the skate and bicycle park.
On Jan. 29, the city filed its request against Kenneth Osterhage, Keith Osterhage, Osterhage Construction (a dissolved corporation) and “unknown owners,” alleging that the building is “dangerous and unsafe.”
The filing states that more than 15 days prior to filing this complaint, the owners of record were mailed a notice by the city to demolish or repair the structure.
The city now asks the court to rule in favor of the building being demolished and cleaned up within 30 days, or be repaired to the satisfaction of the Waterloo code enforcement officer.
Workers could be seen dismantling portions of the building this week, including the roof.
