Marguerite  Ann  Martha  Brandt, nee Thiele, 85, of Waterloo, died Jan. 30, 2014 in Waterloo.

She was born Sept. 22, 1928 in Valmeyer, daughter of the late William H. Thiele and Maria, nee Schwing, Kinney.

She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Maeystown.

She is survived by husband of 67 years Robert Brandt; daughter Sonja (Jerry) Giffhorn; grandson Neil (Rachel) Giffhorn; great-granddaughter Josephine Marguerite “Josie” Giffhorn; sisters and brothers Dorothy Brandt, Ray (Gladys) Thiele and Lee Kinney; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation and funeral services took place Feb. 2-3 at Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo and St. John UCC in Maeystown, respectively.

Memorials may be made to St. John UCC in Maeystown or to the St. Louis Society for the Blind.
