Winter weather causes cancellations
UPDATED SATURDAY 8:18 a.m.: Today’s (Saturday) Humane Society of Monroe County Jingle Bell Dog Walk and corresponding adoption event have been cancelled. They are rescheduled for next Saturday, Dec. 21, at the same times.
Waterloo High School JV wresting meet at Mascoutah Saturday has been canceled. Saturday’s WHS varsity boys bowling tournament at West Park Bowl has also been canceled.
Columbia High School has canceled all sporting events slated for Friday and Saturday, including Friday’s boys basketball game at Wesclin, Saturday’s girls basketball game at Okawville and this weekend’s bowling tournament in Columbia.
For safety reasons, and at the request of New Athens High School, the chance of inclement weather has prompted an earlier start time for tonight’s basketball games. The high school boys basketball game will now start at 5:15 p.m. Friday in New Athens. The junior varsity game will start at approximately 5:15 p.m., with the varsity game to follow. The junior high boys basketball game will start at 4:30 p.m. at Valmeyer.
Tonight’s boys basketball game at Gibault Catholic High School against Metro-East Lutheran has been canceled. Tomorrow night’s home game against Nashville is still a go for now.
As of 3 p.m. Friday, all Waterloo High School sporting events are still a go, including tonight’s boys basketball game at home against Triad.
Rain, snow or shine, the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Cookie Walk sponsored by the Mary & Martha Society will be held starting at 8 a.m. Saturday morning in the SPPCS cafeteria.
