Bowlers get set for regional

West Park Bowl will be the site of the Columbia Regional this Friday, pitting local high school boys bowlers against some of the best in the metro east for a chance to advance to the sectional round. 

The Waterloo, Columbia, Dupo and Gibault boys bowling squads will compete at this regional along with Althoff, Belleville East, Belleville West, Cahokia, Collinsville, Metro East Lutheran, Freeburg, Granite City and O’Fallon. 

The Waterloo boys bowlers competed Saturday in the Panther Tournament at St. Clair Bowl in O’Fallon, as did the Waterloo girls squad. 

For the boys, Waterloo’s Matthew Eller placed 14th overall with a 678 series. 

For the girls, Waterloo’s McKayla Lewis placed 31st overall. She had a high game of 199.

Waterloo played a home match last Wednesday against Highland at West Park Bowl, with the boys and girls varsity squads both winning. 

Makyah Hamilton had a high game of 268 for the Waterloo boys. 

For the Waterloo girls, Lewis, Alissa Wisley and Julia Wallace each had high games of 211 on the day.
