A Veterans Day program will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at Columbia Legion Post 581, .375 E. Locust Street.The guest speaker will be former Waterloo Mayor Tom Smith, who serves as project chairman of the Monroe County Veterans Book.The Belleville Community Band will perform patriotic musical selections throughout the program. Refreshments will be served by the Unit 581 Auxiliary following the program. The public is invited to attend.

The City of Waterloo will also hold its traditional Laying of the Wreath ceremony at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the Veterans Memorial at Lakeview Park. Waterloo VFW Post 6504 will then hold a ceremony at 1 p.m. at Garden Place, 735 Columbia Avenue.

The Dupo Veterans Day service is jointly hosted by American Legion Prairie Du Pont Post 485 and Auxiliary Unit 485 of Dupo and Chief Pontiac VFW Post 1699 of Cahokia on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. The service is at Post 485. 200 S. 5th Street in Dupo.
