More soccer kudos for Davis
A former Gibault Catholic High School soccer standout continues to make a name for herself at the college level.
Maddie Davis, a redshirt junior goalkeeper at Western Kentucky University, was recently named Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week.
Davis secured her sixth shutout of the season Sunday against first-place Florida International University.
The Waterloo native is now tied for the most shutouts this season in CUSA and has the third most saves in the league.
In conference play, Davis has the best goals against average (0.625), save percentage (87.5) and is tied for the most shutouts (five).
Davis’ 14 career shutouts in goal are tied for the third most in WKU history.
The Hilltoppers (3-7-5) host Sam Houston this Friday night to close out the regular season.
WKU, located in Bowling Green, Ky., competes in NCAA Division I athletics.
