The Republic-Times Team of the Week is the Valmeyer Junior High School baseball squad. The Pirates won 8-3 over Chester, 3-2 over Red Bud Lutheran and 12-11 over Marissa to capture first place in the recent eight-team Marissa-New Athens Tournament. Overall, Valmeyer is off to a 3-1 start to its season.
