Suspected drug overdose death in Columbia

Emergency personnel responded about 9 p.m. Wednesday to a suspected drug overdose in Columbia.

Monroe County Coroner Bob Hill said his office was requested to respond to a residence in the 700 block of East Cherry Street for a deceased male.

The male, identified as 43-year-old Dustin Harres of Columbia, was pronounced deceased shortly before 10 p.m.

“The coroner’s office conducted a rapid urine drug screen, with the preliminary cause of death as a drug overdose,” Hill said.

The Columbia Police Department and the Monroe County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the death.

Arrangements for Harres are pending at Leesman Funeral Home in Columbia.
