Janet I. Heberer | Obituary

Janet I. Heberer (nee Bayles), 92, of Waterloo, formerly of Mascoutah, born Feb. 18, 1932, in Hastings, Neb., died Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Oak Hill in Waterloo.

Janet was a homemaker, a loving mother and wife.  She attended 4-H House at the University of Illinois. Janet was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah and past member of Zonta International.

Surviving are her children Kathleen (Edward) Weilbacher of Waterloo, James (Mary) Heberer of Millstadt and Julie (Rick Vernier) Heberer of Okawville; grandchildren John (Lyndsy) Weilbacher and Elizabeth “Rosie” (Robert) Betz; great-grandsons Logan and Evan Betz; grandsons Andrew (Carrie) Matecki, Timothy Matecki; and great-grandchildren, Chase, Jackson and Presley Matecki; nephews, Michael (Jennifer) Richter, Charles Richter, James Bayles;  niece Sharon (Dr. J.B.) Grimes; and brother-in-law Norman Richter.

She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Marion (nee Harrison) Bayles; husband Robert D. Heberer, whom she married on July 19, 1953, in Pekin, and who died on Nov. 9, 2019; son Robert “Rob” Heberer II; brother James Bayles; son-in-law Dennis Graul; and sisters-in-law Mary Kaye Richter and Joni Reilly.

Visitation is 1-3 p.m. July 28 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah.

A funeral service will  follow at the funeral home.

Private burial in Lake View Memorial Gardens will be at a later date.
