Crash involving mail truck in Columbia

Emergency personnel responded about 12:30 p.m. Sunday to a crash involving a black sedan and a United States Postal Service mail truck at the entrance to McDonald’s on Veterans Parkway near Route 3 in Columbia.

Responding agencies included the Columbia police and fire departments and Columbia EMS.

Police said a 1990 mail truck driven by Michael Crowe, 41, of Waterloo, was turning left near the McDonald’s parking lot going toward Jimmy John’s and struck a 2016 Honda sedan driven by Brad Thompson, 45, of Columbia.

Crowe was transported by Columbia EMS to Mercy Hospital South for treatment on non-serious injuries.

No citations were issued in the crash.
