Doris Upchurch, 97, of Dupo, died April 20, 2024, in Chesterfield, Mo. She was born July 16, 1926, in Virden, to Vernie and Helen (Dykema) Wrightsman.

She married James Upchurch on March 22, 1947, he preceded her in death on June 23, 2020.

Doris was a business woman, a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother among other things. She enjoyed working, trips to Florida, but loved spending time with her family most of all.

Surviving are her daughters Cynthia Upchurch, Rebecca Parrin and Janet (Knute) Metz; son Gregory (Elizabeth) Upchurch; grandchildren Knute (Richelle) Metz, Christopher Metz, Catherine Krack, James Krack, Bret (Debbie) Strobo, Christine Linn (Austin), Brian (Kelsey) Upchurch, Dylan Upchurch and Jessica Huch (Shane); great-grandchildren; friend Christopher Parrin; special friends Mary (Ron) Gischer; along with other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband James G. Upchurch, sisters and parents Vernie and Helen Wrightsman.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 27 at Leesman Funeral Home in Columbia.

A service will be held at the funeral home following visitation.

Interment will follow in Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to: the Church of the Brethren, Virden; or St. Paul United Church of Christ of Floraville.
