Saturday crash near Red Bud

Emergency personnel responded shortly before 12:40 p.m. Saturday to a vehicle crash in the area of 4145 State Route 3 at Amberwood Lane near Red Bud in rural Monroe County.

The vehicle involved, a restored orange 1947 GMC Sierra, came to rest in a field following the crash.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department said the truck, driven by 54-year-old Michael Korando of Ellis Grove with 50-year-old passenger Deana Korando, was traveling north on Route 3 when the truck experienced an equipment defect. This caused the truck to lose control, veer off the road to the right, continue back across Route 3 and off the road to the left, striking a ditch.

Both occupants of the truck were transported by Monroe County EMS ambulances to Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Other responding agencies included the Red Bud Fire Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.

Firefighters cleared the scene by 1:15 p.m.
