The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Waterloo Junior High School bowler Sam Beck. On Saturday at St. Clair Bowl, Beck won the boys individual championship at the SIJHSAA State Meet with a six-game series of 1,311. On March 11, Beck won the individual junior high conference championship at St. Clair Bowl with a two-game set of 259 and 213. That was 51 pins over the second place finisher.
