Peterson an All-American again

The sixth ranked McKendree University men’s wrestling team finished its season recently at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Wichita, Kan., earning fourth place overall with 73 team points and four more All-Americans.

One of the All-Americans for McKendree was Valmeyer native Cory Peterson, who went 3-2 at the national tourney to place fourth in the 165-pound division.

This is the third All-American designation for Peterson, who also received that status in 2021 and 2022.

Cory is the son of Lisa and Jerry Peterson and graduated from DeSmet Jesuit High School, where he was the Missouri State Champion in wrestling following an undefeated senior season.
