James W. Maag

James W. Maag, 49, of Waterloo, died June 18, 2013, in St. Louis.

He was born Feb. 16, 1964, in Red Bud, son of Marian Maag (nee Orrell) and the late John Edward Maag.

He was married to Wendy D. Maag (nee Buettner); she survives him.

Mr. Maag was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo. He was employed at Dial Corporation in St. Louis and was a member of Teamsters Local 618, and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include his mother; wife; children Leah Maag and John Maag; sister Linda (Coleman) Morse; brothers Thomas (Lorrie) Maag and David (Cris) Maag; brothers- and sisters-in-law Lyle (Chris) Buettner and Renee (H. Doug) Minton; and aunt Jane Hagedorn; along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law Lloyd and Barbara Buettner.

Visitation was June 20, at Quernheim Funeral Home, and June 21, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Funeral services were June 21, at the church, Pastor Tony Troup officiating.

Interment followed at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Youth Group, Mid-America Transplant, and the Illinois Conservation Foundation, which supports youth hunting and fishing programs.
