The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Waterloo High School basketball player Alex Stell. The 6-foot-10 junior scored his 1,000th career point Friday at home during a loss to Mascoutah. Despite missing some games due to injury, Stell is averaging nearly 17 points and 10 rebounds per game this season for the Bulldogs in addition to 2.26 blocked shots per contest.
